Board of State Canvassers to review issues from election

The Board of State Canvassers will be meeting today to review significant issues from this past election.

During Jill Stein's request for a recount, many voting issues from the November 8 election came to light. Now the board wants to address those problems.

The board has asked the bureau of elections to launch an investigation of ballot discrepancies in some of Detroit's voting precincts.

In one case, they found only 50 ballots were in a sealed container for a precinct where records indicate 300 people voted.

Similar mismatch cases have turned up in about 20 of Detroit's 490 precincts.

A spokesperson for the state says the problems would not have changed the outcome of the presidential race where Donald Trump won the state of Michigan because Hillary Clinton did win Detroit with 95 percent of the vote.

They did call this a significant concern.

Seven action news will follow this meeting and subsequent investigation closely.
