DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 7-year-old boy was released from the hospital Thursday after surviving a fire at his home on the city's west side Tuesday night. Investigators have ruled that the apartment fire was intentionally set, and a suspect is now in custody.

The fire occurred on Brace Street near the intersection of Southfield Freeway and West Chicago around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Markell Joyner was hospitalized and treated for smoke inhalation. His mother, 31-year-old Star Milligan and his 2-year-old sister, Mylah, died in the fire.
