BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Brownstown Township Police Department is enjoying some internet fame after a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post.
Two officers were on patrol on Sept. 26 and found a group of people gathered near a fire; they reportedly suspected there was underage drinking at the gathering.
However, they actually found a group of women who were residents at a senior living facility seated around a fire pit making s'mores.
The police department posted a picture of the group on Facebook saying officers were dispatched to a rowdy party with loud music and suspected underage drinking.
Brownstown Police Chief Jeff Watson said the Facebook post was "embellished" a bit, but was all in good fun.
The post has received nearly 1,000 interactions.
