People will now start being allowed to return to buildings in Birmingham after a gas leak caused evacuations on Tuesday afternoon.
The evacuation radius was several blocks from Maple to Merrill and Chester to Pierce.
We're told a third party contractor was doing work and hit a main underneath the road at Martin and Bates.
The Baldwin Public Library and Birmingham City Hall will be closed until further notice, according to Birmingham police.
The gas has been shut off in Birmingham and crews are currently making repairs. People will soon start being allowed to return to buildings.
