Cafe Con Leche is closing in Southwest Detroit after 7 years. The owner, Jordi Carbonell, says he could not come to an agreement about the lease so he's closing up shop.

"We didn't arrive to an agreement to keep going," he says.

Customers are sad to see it go.

“I was kind of sad because I performed here in high school for the first time and it’s very sentimental to me,” says Stephanie Sulis, customer.

“This has become an important center. This is where people come to get together. I hope we can find something to take its place,” adds John Quinn, who has been a customer since the coffee shop opened.

A final celebration is happening Friday, March 11 from 5 p.m.  until 8 p.m. at the coffee shop.

The Cafe Con Leche location in the New Center Area remains open.
