LENAWEE CO., Mich. (WXYZ) — A cat named Gus was rescued Sunday from an active utility pole after five days.
The 2-year-old cat got out when company visiting a house nearby left out of the home, according to Steven Simpson who is a roommate in the home. The cat belongs to the son of Simpson's roommate.
"We couldn't find him," Simpson said. "I went to leave an heard him meowing. (I) followed it an found him up the pole. We tried everything we could possibly do to get him down but (we weren't) successful."
Gus the cat was stuck on top of the pole for five days. Consumers Energy went out to the area on Saturday and attempted to get the cat down using a bucket, but were also unsuccessful.
On Sunday, Simpson said his neighbors suddenly came up with an idea to get Gus down by tying a rope to the end of a pole and then pulling the cat down. Simpson says after the whole ordeal, Gus is eating and is happy and safe.
