Detroit turns 316 years old on Monday, and to celebrate, Michigan-based ice cream company Hudsonville Ice Cream is giving away free ice cream during the city's birthday party.

It's happening Monday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Cadillac Square. On top of the free ice cream, there will be a raffle, games and other activities.

Last month, Hudsonville revealed its latest flavor to represent the city of Detroit.

The "Comeback Cooler" is a twist on the traditional Boston Cooler, with a Vernors-inspired ginger taste. The flavor is made from Hudsonville's French Vanilla ice cream swirled with a sweet ginger ale ribbon.

Tracy Heureux of Plymouth submitted the winning idea. She cited the flavor as something she associated strongly with Detroit and always craved while living in Philadelphia.
