Channel 7 takes action after rat infestation reported at Warren mobile home park

For the past year, Jammie Duncan has called Woodview mobile village her home. But she says it gives her more anxiety than comfort.

Duncan is a mom of three living on a very limited income, but she says she’s had to throw away furniture, toys and bedding all because of a major rat infestation problem.

It's gotten so bad that child protective services have deemed the home unsafe for her children to live.

Tenants say abandoned trailers on site used for storage are in part to blame by attracting the rodents.

And when they report the issues to maintenance, they say nothing gets done.

Our Taking Action Team immediately took their concern to the city of Warren.

"We will soon be able to go in and to issue tickets and if necessary to abate the premises of something that has a problem," said Mayor Jim Fouts.

Fouts says he’s been fielding complaints about mobile home parks in the city for years.

But now there's a new ordinance on the books that allows for the city to step in and take more control of parks not living up to their responsibility.

After Channel 7 brought Woodview to his attention, the the city paid the park a visit, ultimately issuing them several tickets, including violations for rat holes and the abandoned trailers filled with junk.

Some residents were also ticketed for not keeping their trash in closed cans.

But the good news? The park is planning to comply with the city’s orders, saying they are in the process of obtaining large dumpsters from waste management to start the clean-up process.
