(WXYZ) — Chuck Rizzo's lawyer Jay Schwartz, who allegedly collaborated with Rizzo to bribe a Macomb County politician, was charged with bribery conspiracy and bribery.

Rizzo is currently serving a five and a half year federal prison sentence for bribery and fraud.

Schwartz, 53, allegedly helped Rizzo in bribing Clinton Township Trustee Dean Reynolds with cash and free legal services, according to an indictment released Tuesday.

Schwartz also helped conceal the bribes. In result of the bribes, Rizzo's company, Rizzo Environmental Services (RES), kept a garbage contract -- worth about $18 million -- with Clinton Township. The conspiracy lasted for two years from March 2014 to January 2016.

Schwartz, of Northville, was released Tuesday on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
