SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — Looking for a summer gig? The City of Southfield is hiring.
You'd be working at the city's Public Works Department. Candidates who apply before June 21 will receive $11.50 per hour for 17-year-olds and $12 per hour for those 18 and older. Compensation starts at $11 per hour if applications are received after June 21.
Here's what the position entails:
Numerous summer seasonal positions are currently available in the Streets & Highway Division. Work will include outside maintenance of city streets, including mowing, weed whipping, site clean-up and restoration. Employees will operate power tools and hand tools and must wear steel toed shoes. Employees 18-years-old and older will also operate city vehicles and assist with cold patching of city streets. Candidates who are 18-years-old must be high school graduates with a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Work schedule will be 40 hours per week.
