The City of Southfield Emergency Management Division will screen your Halloween candy for free today from 6 to 9 p.m.

The screening will take place at the Southfield Sports Arena on Evergreen Road in the lobby of the ice arena.

“The city of Southfield is pleased to offer this valuable service free-of-charge to our community,” said Southfield Homeland Security & Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Wirkus. “This is a convenient way to make sure your child’s Halloween bag is full of only treats and no tricks!”

Recommended trick-or-treating hours in Southfield are 6 to 8 p.m.

The Southfield Fire Department will also be on site to hand out free smoke detectors while supplies last.
