A judge in Isabella County ruled that the Central Michigan University shooting suspect is not competent to stand trial.
James Davis Jr. is accused of fatally shooting his parents on the CMU campus on March 2. In Davis Jr.'s competency hearing on March 23, the judge said he is not competent to stand trial.
He will go through treatment in order to regain competency, his attorney says.
Davis Jr. was charged with two counts of murder and a weapons charge in the shootings of his father, Eric Davis Sr. and mother, Diva Davis.
The shooting occurred on the fourth floor of Davis Jr.'s dorm room in Campbell Hall. A 16-hour manhunt and university lockdown ensued before Davis Jr.'s capture.
