Comcast opens hundreds of free internet hotspots

According to Michelle Gilbert, vice president of public relations at Comcast, most people are very cautious about how much data they use.

But, now they can put some of that concern to the side. Comcast installed about 700 outdoor public hotspots in Detroit, Royal Oak, Ann Arbor, St. Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe.

“Everybody wants to stay connected everywhere they go. Whether they’re shopping at Eastern Market or enjoying dinner in Royal Oak, they can connect to our WiFi for free and save on their wireless plans," says Gilbert.

If you're a Comcast customer, you can use the hotspots for free whenever you want. If you aren't a Comcast customer, you can use the hotspots for free for two hours a month. After that, you can choose to purchase a plan.
