(WXYZ) — The Traverse City area and Upper Peninsula remain in phase 5 of the MI Safe Start Plan and the rest of the state remains in phase 4 of the MI Safe Start Plan.
Earlier today, we published a story here saying that two regions had moved out of phase 4. It was based on information from the MI Safe Start website, which showed the Grand Rapids region in phase 3 and the Lansing region in phase 3.
The map didn't indicate a movement out of phase 5, but instead showed the risk and capacity indicators taken into consideration during the state's implementation of the MI Safe Start Plan.
"Those levels are taken into consideration, with other epidemiologic information, in assigning the overall risk level for a region. The State of Michigan's decisions about the MI Safe Start plan also take into consideration availability of mitigation and economic factors, among other factors," the website reads.
According to the state, based on data from June 26, the risk phases were increased.
There was a one-week increase above 40 new daily cases per million in Lansing.
For Grand Rapids, there was a 2-week increase above 20 new daily cases per million and the increase in percentage of positivity during a time of increased testing.
Due to the increases in cases, all other regions are also being monitored, according to the state.
The Lansing region could be due to the outbreak attributed to Harper's Bar in East Lansing, where there are more than 100 confirmed cases.
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story said the two regions moved backwards out of phase 4. That has been corrected to say the risk factor was moved into a different phase.
