Detroit Metro Airport worker tests positive for COVID-19

ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) — One Detroit Metropolitan Airport worker has tested positive for COVID-19, the airport confirmed.

The person is a ramp employee who works for a service provider of a North Terminal carrier.

The state of Michigan reported 15 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 80 in the state.

Of those cases, five are in Detroit, two are in Macomb County, seven in Oakland County and one in Wayne County.

The first death from COVID-19 was reported on Wednesday morning. A man in his 50s with underlying health conditions passed away at a Beaumont Health facility in Wayne County.

55% of the cases are male and 36% are female, according to the state.
