Five prospective players in the United Shore Professional Baseball League have tested positive for COVID-19, a USPBL spokesperson confirmed.

The start of the 2020 season is set to begin July 3 at Jimmy John's Field.

The players who tested positive had not yet signed their contracts.

The capacity for the games is limited to 100 people, per the governor's executive order.

The USPBL released a COVID-19 readiness plan ahead of its season opener, which included social distancing and sanitation policies.

The league redesigned its facility seating to allow for proper social distancing - each group of seats is separated 6 feet apart. Additionally, hand sanitizer dispensers have been added throughout the ballpark.

The league said players had pre-season testing for COVID-19, and will undergo daily temperature and health checks.
