(WXYZ) — Hair salons, barbershops, spas and more will be able to open in Michigan on June 15, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced on Friday.
Whitmer signed two executive orders which reopened more regions and other sectors under the MI Safe Start Plan.
According to Whitmer's office, Regions 6 and 8 which include the Traverse City area and Upper Peninsula will move into Phase 5 of the plan. That means salons, movie theaters, gyms and more can open.
Whitmer said that she anticipates that the whole state will be in Phase 5 of the MI Safe Start Plan in a few weeks.
"Please do not drop your guard now," she said. "Because of the hard work and sacrifice we've made, we are now able to make this reengagement happen."
Phase 5 includes continued case and death rate improvements and outbreaks that can be quickly contained.
There will be continued distancing, coverings and mitigated workplaces.
