(WXYZ) — Officials in Oakland County say they and the state of Michigan have provided more than $140 million in grants to help stabilize and support small businesses, residents, and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The grants were awarded to more than 10,000 businesses, according to the county. They have also gone to 22 local chambers of commerce, 28 school districts, residents, nonprofits, retailers, restaurants, and others.
“We have been intentional in our strategy to spread these grants throughout the county to our small businesses, schools, communities and others in the greatest need,” Oakland County Executive David Coulter said in a news release. “These grants are providing much needed cash at a time when so many small business owners continue to be in desperate need.”
