(WXYZ) — The percentage of COVID-19 cases in Michigan continues to climb among younger people, according to numbers from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
According to the latest numbers, 28% of the total cases are for age groups between 20-39.
There are 9,375 cases between the ages of 30-39 and 9,042 cases between the ages of 20-29, according to the state.
Those numbers have climbed over the past few weeks, especially in June.
According to MDHHS Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, 23% of the cases in June alone came from people between the ages of 20-29.
While other age demographics have higher total numbers, the cases have continued to climb among young people, a trend seen around the country.
