ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — Ann Arbor Council Member Zack Ackerman attended a planning commission meeting Tuesday after he was convicted of driving while intoxication.

In January, he was arrested and booked in Novi Police Department.

Police reports say he blew above .17, twice the legal limit after he crashed into another vehicle. No one was reportedly injured.

The 25-year-old, was convicted of driving intoxicated by a judge and sentenced to one year probation and five days of community service.

Despite a conviction he still is serving in his elected role although at least one council person has asked him to step down.

7 action news obtained police dash cam video of his arrest in Jan.

Council Member Elizabeth Nelson released a statement.

“He should step down because he hid it from us (his colleagues) for three months while doing council work specifically related to community/police interactions. His arrest was relevant, his personal situation was relevant, and he should not have hidden it.”

We reached out to Ackerman, we are awaiting a response.
