Covenant House Michigan is a sanctuary for young people who have nowhere else to go. The men and women who attend the special school and shelter haven't had it easy but they're far from troubled.
“Sometimes it’s abusive parents or the household isn’t stable. It’s not always troubled children or teens. Sometimes life throws you a curveball,” says 21-year-old resident Tavon McBride.
And now students and residents are hitting back!
The group is putting the past behind them and their talents on display at Covenant Idol, a fundraiser for Covenant House Michigan.
Covenant Idol is Wednesday May 11th at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Detroit. The show starts promptly at 7 p.m.
The fundraiser is free of charge but a donation is suggested. If you can't attend, but would still like to donate to Covenant House and its mission, click here.
