Utica police say bold thieves are carrying stolen credit card information and making high dollar purchased in Macomb County.
At first glance, the man and woman seem like any other holiday shoppers while leaving a store with a cart filled with stuff. Only detectives say the two are making someone else pay for their purchases. The thieves were caught on camera in the area of Hall and Schoenherr roads.
A recent $600 TV purchase was among one of their big-ticket buys.
Det. Sgt. Gregory Morabito has seen it all when it comes to retail fraud. He calls the video footage of the thieves, captured on Nov. 29, just the tip of the iceberg.
Morabito is warning the public not to leave wallets and purses in the car unattended, and not to use unsecured websites to shop. He even adds to even watch out for anyone peeking over your shoulder in the checkout line.
