Crews discovered a marijuana grow operation after battling a house fire early Friday morning in Detroit, according to the deputy fire chief on the scene.
7 Action News has learned that crews received the call around 5:15 a.m.
The house is on Darwin Street off of Van Dyke.
Neighbors reportedly told crews that a man lives in the home, but firefighters say they did not find anyone inside.
In the basement, however, crews discovered a marijuana grow operation, according to the chief.
The chief says the fire appears to have started on the back porch.
Arson investigators are headed to the scene.
