A reward will be announced today for information regarding the murder of a 15-year-old girl from Sterling Heights.

At 12:30 this afternoon, Crime Stoppers is expected to announce a cash reward of up to $7,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot and killed Jada Rankin.

She was shot on October 16 of last year while leaving her grandmother's home in Detroit.

Police say, a car was speeding down the street when her brother asked the driver to slow down.

The vehicle came by the home a second time and the driver fired shots into a crowd of people.

Rankin was hit in the stomach.

She was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Jada was a 4.0 student at Sterling Heights High School, a kicker for the football team and had just been elected sophomore Homecoming Princess.
