OAKLAND COUNTY (WXYZ) — The body of a 61-year-old woman was discovered Wednesday during a welfare check in Addison Township.
Investigators say the woman's husband contacted a neighbor requesting medical attention for himself. When deputies arrived at the home in the 1800 block of Rochester Road, they found a woman with "obvious signs of decomposition" inside.
The husband was taken to Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester to be evaluated because of an insect infestation.
While investigating the scene, police had Oakland County Animal Control remove nine cats, one dog and a bird from the home.
An autopsy is being scheduled to determine the cause of death of the 61-year-old woman. Investigators say the home was condemned by the local ordinance officer because of its poor condition.
