Dearborn Heights asks state for emergency declaration

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — The City of Dearborn Heights is asking the state of Michigan for an emergency declaration as a result of the widespread flooding affecting neighborhoods.

City officials have opened a shelter at the Justice Center on Beech Daly and Michigan Avenue for anyone who does not feel safe in their home or needs immediate help.

The mayor has contacted the state and is awaiting the declaration.
