Dearborn Heights family hopeful after receiving chilling text message about their missing dog

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A chilling text message could lead a Dearborn Heights family on a quest to find their missing dog.

According to the owner, last month the family went out for the night when they returned home to find their has been broken into and ransacked. Family says the dog -- Spotty -- was stolen and after failed attempts to find her, they lost all hope -- until they received an anonymous text message.

The text read: "Your dog was stolen...I can't tell you any information."

The mystery messenger claims to know who took Spotty and goes on to say the culprit is someone the family knows. The owner says the tried texting the number back offering a reward, but the text wouldn't go through.

“Bring spotty home that’s all we want,” said owner Matthew Eisner.

The thief also got away with a gaming system and some cash.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police.
