A soft lockdown was lifted on Tuesday morning after a shell casing was found on school property, according to police.
School will continue on Tuesday, according to officials.
Police say there was no threat to students, faculty or staff in and around Dearborn High School, and that students stayed in the classrooms they were in and couldn't move around the building during the lockdown. They say investigators have determined it was an isolated incident and that they will continue to look into the shell casing source.
According to police, other agencies assisted on scene including Michigan State Police, the ATF, Taylor police and Bloomfield Township police.
“We thank our partner agencies for immediately providing crucial resources and coordination to assist in our investigation, and for Dearborn School District officials for their work in securing a soft lockdown. After a thorough sweep and investigation, we can report no immediate threats to the school and surrounding community. The Dearborn Police Department continues to vigilantly monitor the situation," said Dearborn Chief of Police Issa Shahin in a statement.
