DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Dearborn man has been charged after allegedly beating another man to death earlier this week.
Police responded to the altercation on Wednesday, August 19, around 7:30 p.m. at a home in the 6500 block of Theisen Street. First responders found a 64-year-old man who had been severly injured following an altercation between family members at the home.
After Dearborn Police completed their investigation, Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office initially authorized the following charges against 43-year-old Mohammed Rustom:
- Assault with Intent to Murder
- Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder
The day after the alleged altercation, Rustom appeared in court and was given a $500,000 bond, cash or surety. Two days after that, the victim died at the hospital.
Dearborn Police plans to submit the case to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review and consideration of additional or amended charges. Rustom is being held in the Wayne County Jail, pending additional charges.

"Our investigators will continue working closely with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office to ensure the individual responsible is held accountable through the justice system.”
