PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — Oakland County sheriffs are investigating a report of a sexual assault incident that happened Wednesday at Pontiac High School.

A deputy assigned to Pontiac High School on 1000 block of Arlene Avenue was notified by school staff that a 14-year-old female student reported that she was sexually assaulted by a 15-year-old male student.

The assault occurred earlier this morning on school grounds, police say. The suspect was being detained by school security. The victim was with school staff in the teen resource room. The victim told the deputy that she and the suspect were in a secluded area of the school when the assault occurred.

Detectives responded to the school to speak with the victim and her mother who had been notified about the incident. After the interview, the victim was taken to the Haven’s START Program for a forensic examination.

The 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody and transported to the station to be interviewed by detectives. The suspect’s mother was notified and responded to the station, police say.

Detectives interviewed the suspect in the presence of his mother. After the interview, a deputy took the suspect to the Oakland County Children’s Village where he was placed pending the issuance of criminal charges.
