PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 27-year-old man is dead and a 59-year-old man is in stable condition after a machete attack inside a Pontiac home Monday.

The deadly attack happened in the 50 block of Oliver Street.

Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the location to find the deceased man lying on the home's dining room floor in a pool of blood.

Investigators say the suspect, a 51-year-old man from Independence Township had come to the home requesting drugs but became angry when he couldn't get them. The suspect then attacked both men with a machete and then with a steak knife.

The second victim, a 59-year-old man, was found by deputies outside of the home. He had cuts to his head but was able to give information to officers about what happened. He was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital and is in stable condition.

The suspect fled to a nearby gas station where he reported what had just taken place. He had also gone to a home in the area and knocked on a door to request help.

The suspect was later found by deputies in the back of a home located on Marquette Street. He was lying on the lawn from an apparent overdose. Paramedics provided first aid and the suspect was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition and under police custody.
