A new pedestrian plaza in under development in downtown Detroit.
Beginning Thursday night, the city is closing off Woodward from Larned Street south to Hart Plaza in both directions.
The city is working on creating Spirit Plaza, named for the Spirit of Detroit.
Crain's Detroit reports the road closure is expected to last for at least the next three months.
Spirit Plaza will open to the public on Monday, June 12 at 11 a.m.
