DETROIT (WXYZ) — Wayne County Prosecutors have charged a Detroit father in connection with the kidnapping of his 4-month-old daughter.
Brandon Ryan Walker was charged with second degree kidnapping, child abuse and third degree fleeing and eluding.
On April 6 around 11:20 a.m., Detroit police officers responded to the area of 20500 block of James Couzens freeway in response to a call regarding a parental kidnapping.
It is alleged that Walker, his girlfriend and their daughter were in a vehicle on James Couzens. After arguing with his girlfriend, who got out of the vehicle, Walker allegedly sped off with the infant in the back seat.
Prosecutors say along with speeding, Walker allegedly ran stop signs and traffic control devices.
Officers initially pursued him, but stopped the pursuit when advised that Walker wanted to drop off the infant to her mother. The 4-month-old was safely returned, Walker was later arrested.
He was arraigned Wednesday in 36th District Court and received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.
His probable cause conference is scheduled for April 22, and his preliminary examination on April 28.
