A teenage girl is in serious condition after being shot in the face Sunday night as she sat in her living room.

Police say her home was sprayed by bullets after gunfire erupted outside on her block. Now, they need your help finding three masked men.

It happened Sunday around 10:30 p.m. on Appoline Street near Saint Martins Avenue, which is close to Meyers Road and Seven Mile Road.

Almost all the homes are occupied and maintained, some with beautifully manicured lawns.

It comes as a bit of a shock to neighbors that shots were fired.

There are at least eight bullet holes on the house of where the 14-year-old was hit.

“What makes me mad is when some kid gets hurt," said neighbor Bill Welborne. "That burns me up. She may never get over this.”

Welborne and Joyce Martin are neighbors who volunteer for the neighborhood watch group. The two were shocked to learn that someone opened fire.

“It was very disturbing to hear it in your own neighborhood,” Martin said.

Police say three masked men were seen running down the street firing guns. One of the bullets hit the 14-year-old girl while she sat in her living room, striking her in the face.

Martin heard the shots, she said.

”I know what that sounds like when you let go of a full clip and that’s what I hear repeatedly,” she said.

We’re told the the neighborhood watch will now be stepping up patrols.

“People always say, ‘It’s not happening in my neighborhood,’" Welborne added, "It’s everywhere.”
