(WXYZ) — We're learning more about a house explosion in Detroit earlier this month that left six people injured.
According to the Detroit Fire Department, one hour before the explosion at a home on Evergreen, someone fired a weapon.
That bullet pierced a gas pipe in the basement and caused a leak. About an hour later, a woman lit a cigarette inside the home, causing the explosion.
It happened around 7:20 p.m. on Jan. 4 at the home in the 14400 block of Evergreen.
The six people were rushed to Detroit Receiving Hospital with second and third-degree burns. Two also suffered smoke inhalation.
