A Detroit man is facing nearly two-dozen charges after firing a gun at police.
Mark Courtis Loude II is charged with committing 23 crimes during a police chase that ended in a crash, a shooting then a foot chase.
He is charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, three counts of assaulting, resisting, or obstructing a police officer causing injury, three counts of felonious assault, eleven counts of felony firearm, and one count each of discharging a firearm at a police vehicle, firearm possession by a felon, and carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle.
Detroit Police say it all happened in the early morning hours of February 18, 2017.
They say Loude was parked at a Citgo gas station, blocking the driveway at 8 Mile and Glastonbury.
Police say they pulled up to speak with him, he drove off, side-swiping the officer's car and injuring two officers who were getting out of that car at the time.
The police officer who took the stand today said he followed Loude down the street, where the suspect crashed his white van into a tree.
"My partner and I, we got out and started approaching the van and a shot rang out. I believe that he was shooting at us, trying to kill us."
Police say Loude used a black .40 caliber handgun and at least two of the three officers involved returned fire.
After the shooting police say Loude ran from the crash scene, but was eventually chased down and caught.
Neither the three officers involved or the suspect were injured during the shooting.
The two of the officers who were injured when they say Loude side-swipped their car had to take time off for their injuries.
Prosecutors say Loude is considered a habitual offender and was convicted of armed robbery in 2004.
He remains free on bond. His next court date is July 28, 2017.
