DETROIT (WXYZ) — McDonald's workers in Detroit plan to strike Thursday at noon.

They're joining strikes planned in more than a dozen cities across the country as McDonald's shareholders meet in Dallas.

Workers are demanding the right to form a union.

Detroit Councilwoman Mary Sheffield, Wayne County Commissioners Monique Baker and Jewel Ware, Charter Commissioner Joanna Underwood, Pastor Willie Walker and Pastor Keith Harris will join McDonald's workers.

Workers will also launch the Fight for $15 2020, an effort that will push 2020 presidential candidates to embrace unions. Presidential candidates Julian Castro and Jay Inslee will join workers in Durham and Chicago.
