Some bittersweet news for the city of Detroit. A new list has just ranked Detroit the 8th most dangerous city in the U.S.

But hey, that’s an improvement. Just last year, the same study, conducted by Neighborhood Scout, placed the Motor City at No. 3.

The study takes into account the number of violent crimes for every 1,000 people in American cities with more than 25,000 people.

East St. Louis, IL, is No. 1 -- a slot it’s claimed for the past two years in a row.

  1. East St. Louis, IL
  2. Monroe, LA
  3. Alexandria, LA
  4. Camden, NJ
  5. Wilmington, DE
  6. St. Louis, MO
  7. Bessemer, AL
  8. Detroit, MI
  9. Birmingham, AL
  10. Memphis, TN
