The Detroit News has offered buyouts to staffers across the newspaper, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
According to Crain's, the newspaper plans to "realign our coverage and resources" to prepare for a new, tighter budget.
Decisions for employees will have to be made by Dec. 4, according to Crain's, and the newspaper is offering one week of severance for every six months of service.
It has become common around this time of year for layoffs to happen at both the News and the Detroit Free Press, which operate under a joint operating agreement, originally signed in 1989. The JOA combines the newspapers' business operations while keeping the editorial sides separate.
Last year, both the News and Free Press offered buyouts to reporters before laying off staff.
