The Detroit Pistons announced on Thursday that they have hired Memphis Grizzlies executive Ed Stefanski as a senior advisor to Owner Tom Gores.
According to the team, Stefanski will help "reshape the team's basketball operations infrastructure and strategy."
In his role, he will also help find the team a new head coach and head of basketball operations, after Stan Van Gundy, who had both roles, was fired earlier this month.
The team says Stefanski has more than 20 years of NBA executive-level experience to Detroit had before Memphis, he spent time with the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey with the Nets.
His contract will be for three years.
