DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police announced a significant arrest after a string of car breaks in the downtown area.
The department's Commercial Auto Theft Team said they launched a second investigation after an uptick in airbag thefts.
Their investigation led to the arrest of 32-year-old Marlon Howard. He was reportedly taken into custody on the 33000 block of Groesbeck Hwy in Fraiser.
Investigators said Howard stole 16 airbags during three days in November. Police also said Howard was arrested for running a chop shop earlier this year but was freed on bond in July.
Howard was arraigned in front a judge on Dec. 11. He is facing 33 charges including 15 counts of breaking and entering. His bond is set at $100,000.
