Detroit police investigate 2 non-fatal shootings, smash-and-grab overnight

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police are investigating two separate non-fatal shootings and a smash and grab in Detroit overnight.

Here is preliminary information from the Detroit Police Department:

Smash and Grab in the 14300 block of Harper

On May 23 around 5:24 a.m. in the 14300 block of Harper, unknown suspects gained entry into a local business by backing a silver 2002 GMC Enjoy into the building.

Police say at this time it is unknown if anything was taken.

Non-Fatal Shooting in the area of Hartwell and Foley

On May 23 around 2:45 a.m. in the area of Hartwell and Foley, victim #1, male 18, was driving a 2014 Chevy Impala along with two passengers. A new model Dodge Ram pulled up and fired shots striking victim #1.

The victim continued driving, but struck a building in the 13000 block of Foley, police say.

The victims were taken to a local hospital, victim #1 listed in temp. serious condition. The two passengers (both males, 17 years old) were treated for minor injuries due to the accident. They were not shot, according to police.

Non-Fatal Shooting in the area of Gilbert and Otis

On May 23, 2020 around 1:45 a.m. in the area of Gilbert and Otis, the 22-year-old male victim was walking when the suspect fired shots from a dark colored vehicle, striking the victim in the body.

The victim was privately taken to a local hospital and listed in critical condition.
