The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying and located a suspect in an attempted abduction that happened on Wednesday on the city's east side.

Police say the man got out of a black 4-door car with tinted windows, grabbed the girl and tried to shove her into his vehicle.

As the teen was fighting back, someone else saw what was happening, stopped to help, and the attacker got back in his car and drove off.

He's described as a black man with a dark complexion and a beard and mustache. He appeared to be in his 40s, stands between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet and weighed over 200 pounds. He was wearing a black ball cap, dark colored shirt, black pants and brown shoes.

If anyone recognizes the suspect or has any information pertaining to the crime, call the DPD Sex Crime Unit at 313-596-1950 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
