DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Detroit police officer was was shot in the line of duty in 2017 has died from his injuries, the department said Monday.
Officer Waldis Johnson, a 16-year veteran of the force, was shot in the head on April 30, 2017, while responding to a domestic call.
Johnson died from his injuries on May 31, 2020.
"We are truly saddened by the loss of our brother in blue. He will be forever missed and never forgotten," the Detroit Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Jonson leaves behind a wife and three children.
