Detroit Police search for carjacker who stole car at gunpoint near popular downtown restaurant

Detroit Police are searching for the man who carjacked a woman at gunpoint in downtown Detroit Wednesday night.

It happened on Beaubien, across the street from Niki's Restaurant, around 10:55 p.m.

The armed carjacker approached the woman as she stood near the trunk of her silver Dodge Stratus. He demanded her keys and personal items.

Just moments before the crime, the man can be seen on surveillance video riding a bicycle past the woman. He sets the bike down to carry out the carjacking. 

Detroit Police have taken the gold bike to process for possible fingerprints and DNA.

Thankfully, the victim was not injured.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20's, 5'3", 150 lbs, medium complexion, goatee, and two moles on his right cheek area.

He was wearing a dark colored Michigan hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

H.E.A.T. offers $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest and warrant of carjacking suspects.

The family has also created a GoFundMe account to help get her a new car.
