John E.L. Tenney is with WeirdLectures.com and every year the website releases a top 10 list of the most haunted cities in the state.

“The whole state is weirder than people give it credit for,” Tenney said.

“We have more boats and planes disappear in the Great Lakes than in the Bermuda Triangle,” Tenney said.

He says Traverse City has also had numerous amounts of UFO sightings.

“When cities rejuvenate, like right now in Mount Clemens, you’re seeing a lot of businesses open that people are going into older buildings and having weirder experiences,” Tenney said.

7 Action News reporter Syma Chowdhry met with Tenney at the Detroit Public Library. People have reported seeing an older man in a hat and younger woman roaming the archive aisles, according to the website’s research.

Tenney says the list not only gets folks excited about hauntings but, “it also gives them the opportunity to walk around and learn the history of their cities.”

John is hosting a ‘Detroit's Tales of Terror’ lecture on Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. at Stache International,1416 E. Fisher Freeway in Detroit.
