Current and former Detroit Red Wings players and staff will serve as Salvation Army red kettle bell ringers at four metro Detroit retail locations on Dec. 8.

Each location will be competing against each other to see who can raise the most money.

Autographs will be available at all locations for a suggested minimum $10 donation, with a limit of three pieces of memorabilia per fan.

Those who are unable to donate to their favorite player, alumnus or announcer in person can support the Salvation Army by texting REDWINGS to 41444 to make a contribution.

Funds raised will support the Salvation Army's STRIVE floor hockey program. Introduced in 2009, the program teaches the basics of the sport, team building skills and positive sportsmanship behavior to children ages 8-12.

Since 2005, the Detroit Red Wings organization has raised nearly $135,000 for the Salvation Army through "Red Wings for Red Kettles."

The competition will be held at the following locations with these players:

  • Ken Kal and Kirk Maltby at Kroger in Grosse Pointe Woods, 20422 Mack Ave.
  • Kris Draper and Chris Osgood at Kroger in Plymouth, 15455 Haggerty Rd.
  • Petr Mrazek and Tomas Tatar at Kroger in Royal Oak, 2200 E. 12 Mile Rd.
  • Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm, Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond at Hockeytown Authentics, 1845 E. Big Beaver Rd.
