DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Youth Choir was given the Spirit of Detroit award during the city council session on Tuesday morning.

Metro Detroit foundations team up for $1 million endowment for Detroit Youth Choir after 2nd place America's Got Talent finish

The award is presented to any person, event or organization for an "outstanding achievement or service to the citizens of Detroit."

Choir Director Anthony White was given the city's highest honor, a Testimonial Resolution.

The Detroit Youth Choir finished second in the America's Got Talent competition. They have been honored throughout the city since returning.
