Detroit Zoo needs volunteers who love penguins!

The Detroit Zoo is looking for volunteers who are passionate about penguins! The zoo is recruiting volunteers ahead of the opening of the Polk Penguin Conservation Center in April.

Volunteers need to be 18 years or older and will do volunteer work at 125-acre zoo.

The zoo is also looking to fill volunteer positions at the Zoo's Arctic Ring of Life, Australian Out back Adventure, Wildlife Interpretive Gallery and the Belle Isle Nature Zoo. No experience is necessary to become a volunteer.

“Certainly everyone will be talking about the amazing Polk Penguin Conservation Center, but not all volunteers will be working there,” said Volunteer Services Manager Linda Denomme. “From Bunnyville to Wild Lights, we expect to be busier than ever, and the anticipated increase in attendance this year and beyond makes all volunteer positions equally important.”

A volunteer orientation session is scheduled Saturday, March 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Detroit Zoo's Ford Education Center.

You must register in advance. Additional sessions are scheduled every month through June.
