DETROIT (WXYZ) — Family and friends paid tribute to 'Mother" Lois Holden, who turned 110 years old on Sunday.
On Monday, State Rep. Isaac Robinson presented her with the Great Seal of the State of Michigan, signed by all 110 members of the Michigan House.
Mother Holden has always been an active member in her church and was one of Motown's first gospel stars. She has witnessed a lot of history and says the most important thing anyone can do is reach out to help others.
“Few are fortunate to reach the century mark in life, much less exceed it, so I wish her the happiest of birthdays and hope she continues to enjoy the happiness she has given so generously to others," Robinson said.
Wayne County also presented Mother Holden with a special resolution honoring her milestone.
